MORE ON UBE.
Ube found herself at SEEACA shelter, one of the most unfortunate places a dog can end up.
Labeled quickly as aggressive and fearful, she faced a swift death sentence, a common fate in many shelters across the country where dogs are often mislabeled without proper assessment. When we learned of her situation through videos shared by Sarah, our dedicated volunteer, we knew Ube didn't belong there.
We acted swiftly to rescue her from SEEACA, and it didn't take long to discover that she was neither aggressive nor fearful. In fact, she turned out to be one of the sweetest and calmest dogs we've ever met.
Ube passed all her health checks and received a 9/10 assessment when interacting with other dogs, losing a point only for over-correcting dogs that tried to mount her. She wasn't spayed, but thanks to Annenberg PetSpace, she received not only a spay surgery but also treatment for an exposed nerve in her broken tooth, which had likely been causing her significant pain.
Since her surgery, Ube's spirits have visibly lifted, and it's been heartwarming to watch this loving girl flourish.
Ube is an incredibly sweet dog by nature, but due to her past experiences before being rescued, she needs some work on resource guarding, as she was likely deprived of essential things early in life and lacked a consistent provider. - This is something manageable, and will diminish with someone who wants her to win, she comes with all the tools and advisory on how to work with her on this.
While she is learning about abundance and socializing with other dogs (she’s a rockstar at DOG PPL), we’ve decided she would thrive best in a household where she’s the only dog - for now, but we dont think that's something that will always be needed.
