TITO'S STORY
It doesn’t get much more desert dog than Tito, a testament to dogs’ resilience and love. In a way, Tito found us! While we were in the desert filming a story about dogs in need, we wrapped up shooting and were about to leave when Tito suddenly appeared.
He must have been watching us from a distance, and as we prepared to depart, he bravely ran out in front of our vehicles to flag us down. Circling the truck with his tail tucked, it was clear he was asking for help.
We spent an hour with him, allowing him to get comfortable with our intentions. The loving dog that he is, Tito eventually let us help him. We asked locals if they recognized him and let him lead us, but he always returned to our vehicles. He wanted out of there. We took him in, checked for a chip, and posted his profile on all lost dog channels, but there was no response.
By morning, it was evident that Tito had suffered abuse. He was covered in old bite scars and fresh wounds. Our specialists advised that his scarring and temperament indicated he had been used as a bait dog, which broke our hearts.
Tito craves love, a world he may have never known. He is learning that the world may not be so bad after all, and we need to find him a willing person to help him continue learning. Please consider adopting Tito, and if you can’t, please share his story. This boy deserves a fresh start.
