EUGENE'S STORY
Eugene and six other puppies were unlawfully being held in the shelter by Shasta County. The county claimed they were “evidence” in a dangerous dog hearing that did not involved the puppies whatsoever. Apex Protection Project was able to successfully rescue all 7 of the Shasta County wolf dog puppies from the shelter. All of the puppies besides eugene have been adopted by qualified adopters. Eugene is a low-content wolf-dog who is still looking for his forever home.
Wolf dogs have high energy levels and require significant physical and mental stimulation. They need plenty of exercise and enrichment to prevent boredom and destructive behavior.
Proper socialization is crucial. They can be naturally wary or skittish around unfamiliar people and environments, requiring consistent and extensive socialization from a young age to ensure they grow up to be well-adjusted adults
They can exhibit a range of challenging behaviors, from howling and digging to being highly territorial or showing separation anxiety, requiring an owner prepared to manage these behaviors.
Due to these factors, wolf dog puppies demand significant time, resources, and expertise, making them more challenging to raise compared to typical domestic dog breeds.
